Sacred Pauses
Hello Dear Ones!
Last week, and early this week I had a miserable case of covid. I mean truly, I was flattened and miserable. Everything in my life came to a halt while I used every tool in my kit to heal. Last week on Saturday I woke up out of the haze of covid long enough to realize I hadn’t written to you all. The week had gone by without my noticing. I apologize!
Today I realize that after a week of slowly re-entering the world, I have to stop and rest again. Healing comes in waves, and I have to ride them as they come. Rest, especially with covid, is essential. We have much to know about Long Covid, and I won’t for a second call myself an expert. But my gut tells me that resting and healing well, early in the game, helps prevent Long Covid. And so I must honor whatever my body tells me about how it needs to heal. (And- I know there must be so much more to it. Rest is important, and Long Covid is complex.)
As a professional and a solo mama who pushes hard to stay on top of all the demands and needs in life, it’s really good for me to listen to (and honor) my body’s whispered needs.
So this week I am taking a sacred pause: Time way from regular life. Time inside a protective space to rest, to heal, then to return to this beautiful life with strength, mental clarity, and such joy.
You’ll see me in your inbox next week! And in the meantime, I’ll extend this same sacred pause to you: Do you need to stop and rest too? When/where can you create a pause in your life? What would make that time really restorative? I give you full permission to nurse and tend yourself right now, if you need it.
In deep gratitude for everything in this sweet life,
Rebecca
